St. Louis | Disney dreams

It’s our last week in this house. And everything It’s our last week in this house.

And everything feels a little in-between right now.

Boxes packed.
Running last errands.
Trying to wrap our heads around what’s next.

So instead of overcomplicating it, we’ve just been trying to slow down where we can.

Simple nights. Familiar things. Letting it feel like home for just a little bit longer.

Dirt Cake was one of those desserts I grew up with, so when I saw Hudsonville turned it into an ice cream, I had to grab it.

It’s vanilla and chocolate pudding-inspired ice cream with chocolate cookie pieces and gummies, and it really does taste like the one I remember.

Just one of those simple freezer finds that turned an ordinary night into something we’ll remember.

You can scoop up Dirt Cake ice cream from Hudsonville at a grocery store near you.

Save this for your next slow night 🤍

I mostly saw the back of her head this trip. Runn I mostly saw the back of her head this trip.

Running to the next ride, the next snack, the next thing she couldn’t wait to see.

And instead of trying to slow it down or stick to a plan… I just let her lead.

No overplanning. No rushing. Just following what she was excited about.

More present.
More joyful.
More like the kind of magic you actually remember.

It was a good reminder that you don’t have to do Disney a certain way.

You just have to do it in a way that works for your family.

Follow along or save this for your next trip… or just as a reminder to slow down a little at home 🤍
We’re always looking for ways to say yes to experi We’re always looking for ways to say yes to experiences… without it feeling overwhelming.

And if you have a kid who is sensitive to noise, crowds, or just needs a little more space, you know that isn’t always easy.

Lillie does best when things feel a little quieter and more predictable. When she doesn’t have to work so hard to keep up or mask how she’s feeling.

So finding something like the sensory-friendly night at the Saint Louis Zoo for Animals Aglow felt really special.

It’s the same beautiful experience with all the lanterns and lights, but with thoughtful supports like quiet zones, sensory maps, and staff who truly get it.

And it just felt… easier.
She could move at her own pace, take it all in, and actually enjoy it.
And that kind of experience matters more than anything.

Thank you, Saint Louis Zoo, for bringing our family to experience this 🤍

If you’ve ever felt like certain outings are just too much, this might be one worth looking into.

Have you found places or events that make things feel a little easier for your family?

“Ollie, we may do a beach vacation this year…” Ol “Ollie, we may do a beach vacation this year…”

Ollie: “Yea, that’s fine because we go to Disney beaches.”

“But what if it’s not a Disney beach?”

Ollie: “Umm… I don’t know about that. It’s been a long time.”

“You went less than 6 months ago, and not every family gets to go every year. Some families only go once, if that.”

Ollie: “Okay. Fair. But it doesn’t sound like us. We’re a Disney family at our hearts and that’s a different situation than other families…”

I may have created a Mickey monster. 🙃
If I’m being honest, one of my biggest goals with If I’m being honest, one of my biggest goals with this house is creating a space where people actually gather… where they feel welcomed and loved.

That’s the heart of hospitality for me.

And I didn’t fully realize how much something like this would play into that until now.

We set up @battledartzgame during all of our remodel chaos just to give the kids something to do… but it’s turned into one of those things everyone gravitates toward.

Like truly. People walk in, see it, and within minutes they’re playing.

I love that we can use it inside on chilly spring days, but it moves right into our backyard easily on those warmer ones. And with all the different game options and the scorekeeper app, it actually keeps everyone engaged instead of losing interest after five minutes.

It just adds that layer of “there’s always something to do here”, which is exactly the kind of home we’re trying to build.

Save this for those spring and summer gift opportunities. What would your family play first?

Kids grow SO fast… and I refuse to keep paying ful Kids grow SO fast… and I refuse to keep paying full price for things they’ll wear for one season.

That’s why I love shopping @jbfstlmetroeast.

It’s one of those things that just makes sense — you can stock up on clothes, shoes, toys, books, and all the things your kids need for the next season without feeling like you’re overspending.

And honestly? It still feels like you’re getting really good, quality pieces — not just picking through random stuff.

I went this week and found so many good pieces for the kids, and it already feels like one of those small ways I’m staying ahead instead of scrambling later.

If you’ve never been, this is your sign.

👉 Go to my stories for a link to FREE tickets starting at noon today
👉 And half-priced early admission starts tomorrow

It’s at the Gateway Convention Center just ten minutes from downtown St. Louis and absolutely worth going if you’re trying to be more intentional with spending for your family.
